Nets back in a funk

After weeks of reasonable play, the Nets are finding themselves back in a little funk after dropping for of their last five. That includes a 125-106 loss at home to the Bulls on Friday. Brooklyn is 29-28 overall, 12-15 on the road, 31-26 against the spread and 30-27 with the over.

The Nets are putting up 111.5 points per game on offense this season while giving up 112 per contest on defense. Brooklyn could be without a presence in the paint tonight, as DeMarre Carroll is questionable to play due to a knee injury. D’Angelo Russell is leading the team with 19.8 points and 6.5 assists per game while Caris LeVert, who just recently returned from injury, averages 17.9 points per game.

Raptors heating up

Toronto had a bit of a close call at New York on Saturday in a 104-99 win over the Knicks, but the Raptors have won four straight overall and had covered in three straight prior to the game with the Knicks. The Raptors are now 41-16 overall, 22-5 at home, 26-31 against the spread and 30-27 with the over.

The Raptors are pretty strong on both sides of the ball. The offense is putting up 113.8 points per game while shooting 46.8 percent from the field. Defensively, the Raptors are giving up 108.2 points per game while limiting opponents to 45.2 percent shooting. Toronto just recently traded for Marc Gasol to add to their already potent lineup. He had 7 points and 6 rebounds in 19 minutes in his debut with the team on Saturday. Kawhi Leonard is the leader of the squad with 26.9 points and 7.8 rebounds per game while Kyle Lowry adds 14.4 points and 9.2 assists per game.

NBA Betting Trends

Brooklyn

The Nets are 6-1 against the spread in their last seven games following a failed cover and 8-2 ATS in their last 10 against Atlantic Division opponents.

Toronto

The Raptors are 5-2 against the spread in their last seven games following a win.

Prediction:

These two have split both meetings this season, with the home team covering in both situations. The Raptors covered a 10-point spread on Jan. 11 at home in a 122-105 win. Toronto is definitely the better team, but the issue with them is they can have surprise roster moves right before tip. It seems like they like to sit Lowry or Leonard on occasion, so it could happen tonight without much notice. Assuming both are playing who is listed to play, the Raptors should be too much for Brooklyn. The Toronto defense can keep Russell and LeVert from going off and the Raptors offense should be able to dominate inside.

NBA Prediction: Toronto Raptors -10.5
