Heat vs. Trail Blazers Sunday Prediction

Heat vs. Trail Blazers, 2/9/20 NBA Betting Predictions & Odds

The Heat are 34-17 on the year but they’ve had their issues on the road, posting a sub-.500 record away from their home court. Miami will be in Portland on Sunday night, where the Heat the visit the Trail Blazers at 9:00PM ET. Will they at least cover?

Miami Heat Fantasy Spin

Andre Iguodala hasn't played this season, but that hasn't prevented the Heat from expecting their newly-acquired wing to make a big impact. Iguodala held out in Memphis in order to get moved to a contender, and he eventually got what he wanted. And it appears the Heat did, too. "What we got back, from all the people that we had talked to, or even from our analytic department here, is that everything from last year, he’s elite," Heat president Pat Riley said in regards to Iguodala. "He’s an elite defender, an elite team defender. He has an elite assist-to-turnover percentage. He ranks up into the top of those areas that are real tangible. And, so, you don’t lose that in seven months. And probably it was a blessing in disguise that he didn’t play for seven months." While Iguodala may not make a big fantasy impact, Miami is clearly expecting him to step in and help them make a run in the Eastern Conference.

Portland Trail Blazers Fantasy Spin

Damian Lillard kept it going in a 117-114 loss to the Jazz, dropping 42 points on 16-of-30 shots with six assists, six rebounds, one steal, two blocks and eight triples in 43 minutes. Lillard had a driving layup that would've tied the game at 116 apiece but the refs made one of the worst no-calls in recent memory with an obvious Rudy Gobert goaltend. Portland didn't walk away with a win but Dame's fantasy owners certainly did as he continues to destroy everyone in his path as the No. 1 player in 9-cat over the last month.

NBA Prediction

The Heat are just 2-5 against the spread in their last seven road games while the Trail Blazers have covered in six of their last seven overall and four straight at home. That said, I think the over is the better play. The over is 4-0 in the last four meetings between these two teams, is 19-6-1 in the Heat’s last 26 games playing on one day of rest, is 6-1 in their last seven games as an underdog and is 20-9 in their last 29 games overall, including 9-4 in their last 13 road games. On the other side, the over is 10-1 in the Trail Blazers’ last 11 games overall, is 4-0 in their last four games when they’re listed as a favorite and is 12-3 in their last 15 games when they’re facing a team with a winning record.

SUNDAY NBA BETTING PREDICTION: HEAT/TRAIL BLAZERS OVER 229.5
