According to oddsmakers at Bovada.lv, the Nuggets are the slight favorite at home, as they are getting odds of -2.5 points against the Mavericks. The over/under total for the contest is listed at 215 points. These two have met twice this season already, with the home team winning and covering the spread in both meetings.

Dallas is actually surging right now, winning four straight and six of their last seven to get to 20-30 on the year. The Mavs have also covered in seven of their last eight games to move to 27-23 against the spread on the season. Dallas only puts up an average of 97.6 points per game on the season, but holds opponents to 100.1 defensively. Yogi Ferrell has been the big reason behind this sudden boost in the team. He has averaged 17.8 points and 5 assists per game over his 4 games with the team. Harrison Barnes is adding 20.2 points and 5.4 rebounds per game as well.

Denver is coming off a 121-97 loss at San Antonio this weekend for its third loss in four games. The Nuggets are now 22-28 overall while putting up a 26-24 record against the spread. Denver has an offense that puts up an impressive 110.2 points per game, but its defense struggles mightily, allowing 111.8 per game. Leading scorer Danilo Gallinari is out for tonight’s game with a groin injury. He puts up 17.2 points per game for the team. Emmanuel Mudiay, who averages 11.8 points and 4.2 assists per game, is questionable with a back injury.

Dallas has found a spark with Ferrell in the lineup and I think it’s worth riding this hot streak until it ends. When you consider the Nuggets are without their top scorer and a very poor defensive team, Dallas should be able to put up a big offensive number. The Mavericks defense should also be fine limiting this Denver offense without Gallinari and perhaps Mudiay.
