Philadelphia 76ers DFS Spin

Philadelphia center Joel Embiid is officially listed as questionable for Sunday’s game against New York with what is deemed “left foot soreness.” Embiid is playing at an MVP level this season as he leads the NBA in scoring with 33.5 points per game. If that wasn’t enough, Embiid is also contributing 10.1 rebounds and 4.2 assists per game while shooting an efficient 53.4% from the field this year. If he can play Sunday, Philly has a good chance of winning and covering this game.

If you’re looking for a value play in DFS, consider Tobias Harris at the power forward spot. Harris is posting respectable counting stats (16.1 points, 6.1 rebounds, 2.7 assists, 1 steal per game) while shooting well both from the field (50.8%) and from beyond the arc (38.1%) this year. 

New York Knicks DFS Spin

The Knicks will be without their second-leading rebounder Mitchell Robinson for Sunday’s game and the foreseeable future. Robinson is dealing with a right thumb fracture that required surgery. He had been posting 7.2 points, 8.9 rebounds, and 1.8 blocks per game in 26.9 minutes per contest this year.

Knicks shooting guard RJ Barrett is averaging a career-high 20.3 points per game for New York this season. Barrett has also posted career bests in field goals made per game (7.2) and free throw percentage (75.5%) this season. RJ Barrett may be in for a big day Sunday as Philly may focus on stopping Jalen Brunson and Julius Randle while allowing him to shoot at will.

It’s worth double-checking Joel Embiid’s injury status before tipoff as the 76ers are a completely different team when he doesn’t play. I’m not particularly worried about Embiid though as he was questionable for a game against Denver last week and he not only played but went full supernova. In that game, Joel Embiid racked up 47 points and 18 rebounds while shooting 58.1% from the field in a 126-199 Philly win.

The Knicks on the other hand are playing on the second night of a back-to-back. They lost at home to the Clippers on Saturday night in overtime by a score of 134-128. The Knicks’ top three scorers (Jalen Brunson, Julius Randle, and RJ Barrett) all played 38 minutes or more in that game. I think Philly is the better team and the fact that they’ll have the rest advantage is an added bonus. I’ll lay the points with the Sixers on the road.
