Mavs fall at Detroit

Dallas is coming off a 93-89 loss at Detroit on Thursday, the same day it made a big trade with the Knicks for Kristaps Porzingis and Tim Hardaway Jr. Dallas is still 5-0-1 against the spread in its last six games. Dallas is 23-28 on the season, 5-21 on the road, 31-19-1 against the spread and 28-23 with the under.

The Mavericks are averaging just 109.3 points per game on offense this season while shooting 45.1 percent form the field. Defensively, Dallas is giving up 108.9 points per game. It’s unknown if Hardaway Jr., Courtney Lee and Trey Burke will be available today from the trade. The Mavs could sure use them as Luka Doncic is questionable to play due to an ankle injury. The Mavs could be short-handed again tonight, but I don’t think it will be an issue. Dallas covered without Doncic and company on Thursday in Detroit and the Cavs are a far worse team than even Detroit. The Cavs may have won back-to-back games, but they have nothing to play for and can’t sustain success. Dallas has new life with the trade and the players that will be on the floor are playing to more time with a healthy roster, or even just a career down the road with other teams. They should be motivated and give their all.
