Pistons beat up
Detroit is dealing with a lot of injuries this season and the Pistons are riding a three-game losing streak right now following a 115-100 loss at home to Cleveland. Detroit is 17-31 on the season, 8-15 on the road, 17-30-1 against the spread and 30-18 with the over.
The Pistons are giving up 111.3 points per game this season while allowing opponents to shoot 47.5 percent from the field. Offensively, Detroit is putting up 109.2 points per game while shooting 46.6 percent from the field. The Pistons are without Blake Griffin for the rest of the season and Luke Kennard is also out while Andre Drummond is questionable. Drummond is averaging 17.3 points and 15.6 rebounds per game. Derrick Rose is leading the way with 18.8 points and 6.0 assists per contest.
Nets can’t get started
Brooklyn is coming off another loss on Sunday, 110-97, on the road against the Knicks. The Nets have lost six of their last seven games. Brooklyn is 19-26 on the season, 11-12 at home, 19-26 against the spread and 22-22-1 with the over/under total.
The Nets are putting up 109.4 points per game on offense while shooting 44 percent from the field. Defensively, Brooklyn is giving up 111.9 points per contest while opponents shoot 44.1 percent against them. Kyrie Irving is leading the team with 27.2 points, 5.2 rebounds and 6.7 assists per game. Spencer Dinwiddie is adding 21.2 points and 6.5 assists per contest.
NBA Betting Trends
Detroit
The Pistons are 4-11 against the spread in their last 15 games following a loss and 7-18-2 ATS in their last 27 games as a road underdog.
Brooklyn
The Nets are 1-5 against the spread in their last six games playing on two days rest and 2-10 ATS in their last 12 games following a loss.
Prediction:
The Nets picked up a 121-111 win at Detroit just four days ago, but that was also an OT game. The Nets as such a big favorite is concerning. However, Detroit is very beat up and the Pistons don’t have a lot of playmakers to offer, especially if Drummond is out tonight. The Nets didn’t have Irving in their last game as he wanted some time following the passing of Kobe Bryant, a mentor to him. He is expected back tonight and I think we will see a very motivated effort from him to honor his fallen friend. Irving can be unstoppable when he wants to be, and I think he will make a run at a big night tonight and lead the Nets to a dominant win.
NBA Prediction: Brooklyn Nets -8.5
