Mavs on road trip
Dallas started a road trip out west on Thursday with a 133-125 win at Portland. The Mavericks have won five of their last six while going 4-1-1 against the spread. Dallas is 28-16 on the season, 15-5 on the road, 23-19-2 against the spread and 27-17 with the over.
The Mavericks are one of the top offenses in the league, averaging 116.8 points per game while shooting 46.3 percent from the field. Defensively, Dallas is allowing 109.7 points per game while opponents shoot 45 percent from the floor. Luka Doncic is leading the team with 29.1 points, 9.6 rebounds and 9.0 assists per game. Kristaps Porzingis is adding 17.1 points and 9.2 rebounds per contest.
Jazz keep winning
Utah has won and covered the spread in its last three games following a 129-96 win at Golden State on Wednesday. The Jazz have won 13 of their last 14 games. Utah is now 31-13 on the season, 17-3 at home, 25-19 against the spread and 23-21 with the over.
The Jazz are allowing just 105.8 points per game while opponents shoot 44.4 percent from the floor. Offensively, Utah is putting up 111.1 points per game while shooting 38.9 percent from the arc and 47.5 percent from the field. Donovan Mitchell is leading the team with 24.7 points, 4.2 rebounds and 4.2 assists per game. Rudy Gobert is adding 15.6 points and 14.5 rebounds per contest.
NBA Betting Trends
The Mavericks are 21-6-2 against the spread in their last 29 road games, but 3-8-1 ATS in their last 12 games following a win.
The Jazz have covered the spread in seven straight home games and in 13 of their last 16 games as a favorite.
These two haven’t met this season. Both teams come in playing well, but the Jazz are really playing at a high level. Utah has really been locked in on both sides of the ball. They are shooting great from 3-point land while defending well. I think Utah being at home should be enough to get past the Mavericks. Dallas certainly has a lot of offensive potential, but the Mavs struggled to score against the Clippers and Nuggets in recent meetings. I would expect more of the same against the Jazz in Utah.
NBA Prediction: Utah Jazz -4
