Wizards falls in OT
Washington is coming off a 134-129 OT loss at Miami last night for a fourth loss in five games. The Wizards are 14-29 on the season, 5-18 on the road, 21-21-1 against the spread and 24-18-1 with the over.
The Wizards have a strong offense, averaging 114.7 points per game while shooting 46.1 percent from the field. Defensively, the Wizards rank last in the NBA. They are giving up 120.1 points per game while opponents shoot 48.9 percent against them. Washington is without Rui Hachimura and Mortiz Wagner in the frontcourt due to injuries. Bradley Beal is leading the team with 27.5 points, 4.6 rebounds and 6.3 assists per contest. Davis Bertans is adding 15.3 points and 4.7 rebounds per contest.
Cavs can’t get on track
Cleveland suffered a fifth straight loss on Monday, 106-86 at home to New York. The Cavs have managed to cover in two of their five losses. The Cavs are 12-32 on the season, 6-15 at home, 19-24-1 against the spread and 23-21 with the over.
The Cavs are struggling on offense this year, putting up just 104.8 points per game while shooting 45 percent from the floor. Defensively, Cleveland is allowing 113.9 points per game while opponents shoot 48.7 percent from the field. Collin Sexton is leading the team with 19.1 points per game while Kevin Love is adding 17.3 points and 10.1 rebounds per contest.
NBA Betting Trends
Washington
The Wizards are 2-6 against the spread in their last eight against losing teams and 2-7 ATS in their last nine games following a cover.
Cleveland
The Cavs are 13-6 against the spread in their last 19 games playing on 2 days of rest, but just 1-4 ATS in their last five home games.
Prediction:
Cleveland won the first meeting with Washington in Washington back on Nov. 8. I like the makeup of the Wizards more on paper, but they are coming off a tough OT contest last night in Miami and have a quick turnaround. This will be their third game in four nights, all in a different location. The Cavs haven’t been terribly competitive as of late, but they also are coming off three games in four nights and looked sluggish in their last game against the Knicks at home. I expect them to be rested and ready with a couple of nights off. I think they will get by the tired Wizards tonight.
NBA Prediction: Cleveland Cavaliers -1
