Charlotte Hornets Fantasy Spin
Miles Bridges said he believes he has broken through the rookie wall. "In the beginning of the season, I was on fire," Bridges said. "I feel like I was one of the best rookies, but then as the season went on, I started struggling. So it’s just a mental aspect where you need to be strong mentally to be able to play in the NBA, especially as a rookie. I feel I overcame the rookie wall and I feel like I am going to play great for the rest of the season." His level of play has picked up over his last four games with 10.3 points, 3.8 boards and 1.0 assists in 18.3 minutes per game, but he has a lot of work to do to become relevant in standard leagues. Charlotte also plays just twice this week.
Memphis Grizzlies Fantasy Spin
The Grizzlies are reportedly not committed to trading Mike Conley or Marc Gasol at the trade deadline. That doesn't mean that these guys won't be dealt, but the Grizzlies could hold off on committing to a deal until this summer. Conley is on the books through 2021, and Gasol has a player option for the 2019-20 season, so the Grizzlies may not feel pressure to commit to a deal ahead of the deadline. Conley should be fine fantasy-wise wherever he winds up, and a move to a playoff-bound team could be seen as a good thing, as there would be less risk of a late-season shutdown.
NBA Betting Trends
Charlotte
The Hornets are just 2-8 against the spread in their last 10 road games.
Memphis
The Grizzlies have failed to cover in 16 of their last 21 games playing on one day of rest.
Prediction
Both teams have struggled at the betting window, but the Hornets have had the most ATS success in this series. They’re 4-0 against the number in their last four games in Memphis and 6-1 against the spread in their last seven games versus the Grizzlies overall. The road team has also covered in six of the last eight meetings between these two teams while the Grizzlies are an abysmal 6-20 at the betting window in their last 26 games overall. Memphis has failed to cover in eight of its last nine home games as well.
