Public Betting Trends
According to oddsmakers from online sportsbook BetNow.eu, the Kings are 1-point favorites to beat the Pistons. The total, meanwhile, sits at 221 points and as of this writing, 60% of the public betting tickets wagered at online sportsbooks are on the Pistons to cover the point spread.
Sacramento Kings Fantasy Spin
Buddy Hield kept his hot January going during a 114-95 loss to the Hornets on Thursday, scoring 24 points with one rebound, one assist, two steals and six 3-pointers in 32 minutes. The treys keep coming in bunches and his monthly average has gone up every month so far this season. His 4.3 treys per game in the month of January ranks fourth in the NBA behind only the greats of James Harden, Klay Thompson and of course Stephen Curry's absurd 7.3. It would be nice if Hield did a little more in the non-scoring areas, but he's doing more than enough as he flirts with early-round value in standard leagues.
Detroit Pistons Fantasy Spin
Blake Griffin nearly triple-doubled in a 98-93 win over Miami on Friday, scoring 32 points with 11 rebounds and nine assists. He also had one steal, three triples and five turnovers, hitting 10-of-24 shots and 9-of-11 free throws. The Pistons are still in the playoff hunt and have won three out of their last four games, but as long as they're competitive Griffin's value will be safe. He also might play more center and could get a short-term boost if Andre Drummond misses any time with his nasal injury -- his usage rate goes up by 5.8% with Drummond off the court and his rebounding rate jumps up 4.4%.
NBA Betting Trends
Sacramento
The Kings have covered the spread in 12 of their last 16 games following a loss of more than 10 points.
Detroit
The Pistons have covered four straight games when their opponent allows 100 points or more in their previous game.
Prediction
The under is 8-3 in the last 11 meetings between these two teams and I like it to cash again tonight. These two teams have been outstanding when it comes to cashing the under, with the Kings playing under the total in their last six games. The under is also 11-4 in the Kings’ last 15 games coming off a loss of more than 10 points, is 4-0 in their last four games playing on one day of rest, and is 24-9 in their last 33 games versus Eastern Conference foes. On the other side, the under is 5-1 in the Pistons’ last six gams, is 4-0 in their last four Western Conference matchups and is 23-7-1 in their last 31 games when playing on zero rest.
Saturday NBA Prediction: Kings/Pistons under 221
