Suns struggling on road trip

The Phoenix Suns are two-games into an Eastern Conference road trip, suffering losses to the Pacers and the Raptors this week. Despite that, Phoenix has covered the spread in four of its last five games. Phoenix is 11-35 on the season, 7-17 on the road, 21-25 against the spread and 26-20 with the under.

The Suns are near the bottom of the NBA on both offense and defense. The offense is scoring just 106.0 points per game while the defense is allowing 114.5 points per game. Opponents are shooting 48.2 percent from the field this season. Devin Booker is leading the team with 24.5 points and 6.9 assists per game while Deandre Ayton is adding 16.5 points and 10.7 rebounds per contest.

Hornets settling in at home

The Hornets returned home for a long road trip on Thursday and earned a 114-95 win over the Kings. They have won and covered the spread in their last two games. Charlotte is 21-23 overall, 15-8 at home, 22-22 against the spread and 23-20-1 with the over.

Charlotte is averaging 112.1 points per game on offense this season while giving up 111.4 points per game on defense. Kemba Walker is leading the team this season with 25.2 points, 4.2 rebounds and 5.7 assists per contest. Jeremy Lamb is adding 15.2 points and 5.6 rebounds per contest.

NBA Betting Trends

Phoenix

The Suns are 7-1 against the spread in their last eight road games, but just 2-5 ATS in their last seven games on 1 day of rest.

Charlotte

The Hornets are 4-1 against the spread in their last five home games, but just 1-4 ATS in their last five after a win.

Prediction:

The Hornets have won four straight meetings with Phoenix, including a 119-113 win at Phoenix on Jan. 6. Charlotte has been an improved team at home, especially on defense. Phoenix is certainly not better on the road. While Phoenix has a lot of young talent, the Hornets still have the best player that will be on the floor. Walker really shines at home and can take over this game against this poor Phoenix defense. I like the Hornets to roll to a lopsided win today.

NBA Prediction: Charlotte Hornets -7
