Los Angeles Lakers Fantasy Spin
Lonzo Ball turned in a well-round game against the Thunder on Thursday, scoring 18 points with six rebounds, 10 assists, one steal and four 3-pointers in 33 minutes. He had a dumb foul at the end of regulation as he fouled Russell Westbrook on a three. The rotation change for Ball seems to be working out with this game and a 19-point, six-dime game on Tuesday. Ball also mentioned there's more pressure on him while LeBron James (groin) is out, so he could have a few more strong outings. He's peaking now, so he could be a bit of a sell-high player before the Lakers start getting guys back.
Houston Rockets Fantasy Spin
James Harden did his thing again during a 145-143 overtime loss to the Nets Wednesday, scoring a season-high 58 points with 10 rebounds, six assists, one steal, one block, four turnovers and five 3-pointers in 45 minutes. He was 16-of-34 from the field with all of those buckets coming unassisted, and he wasn't assisted at all either in the 57-point game on Monday. Harden went 5-of-19 from deep as the Rockets set the record for most 3-point attempts in a game with 70 (!) in his tough loss. This was his 18th straight game with 30-plus points to tie him with Elgin Baylor for fifth-longest streak with only Wilt Chamberlain's four different streaks ahead of him. Harden also joins Wilt as the only players with consecutive 55-plus scoring games. He's on one of the most ridiculous scoring streaks and is not getting much help as he makes a case for MVP.
NBA Betting Trends
Los Angeles
The Lakers are just 3-7-1 against the spread in their last 11 games coming off a win.
Houston
The Rockets are 11-2-1 against the spread in their last 14 home games.
Prediction
The Rockets have been an excellent play at the betting window of late but considering they don’t play much defense, I see value in the underdog. The Lakers are 7-2 at the betting window in their last nine games after scoring more than 125 points in their previous contest. The Rockets, meanwhile, are just 16-34-1 against the number in their last 51 games after scoring more than 125 points in their previous game. The Lakers won back-to-back games, pushing at home as a 7-point favorite versus the Bulls and then pulling off the outright upset in overtime two nights ago in Oklahoma City as a 10-point dog. They’re feeling confident and I’ll roll the dice with L.A. tonight.
