Knicks struggling and short handed
The Knicks are coming off a 108-105 loss at home to Philadelphia on Sunday for their fourth consecutive loss. They have managed to cover in four of their last six games. New York is 10-33 overall, 19-23-1 against the spread and 24-19 with the over.
New York is putting up 107.3 points per game on offense, but shooting a league-worst 43.1 percent from the field. Defensively, the Knicks are allowing 115.8 points per game while allowing opponents to shoot 47.9 percent. The Knicks will be without Enes Kanter, who feared for his safety by flying overseas. Tim Hardaway Jr. is also questionable to play today due to a hamstring injury. Hardaway Jr. is the leading scorer for the team with 19.8 points per game while Kanter averages 14.4 points and 11.0 rebounds per game.
Wizards on a cover streak
Washington is coming off a 140-138 OT loss at home to Toronto, but the Wizards covered in the loss. They are 7-1 against the spread in their last eight games. Washington is now 18-26 on the season, 19-25 against the spread and 26-18 with the over.
The Wizards have struggled on defense this season, giving up 116.8 points per game while allowing opponents to shoot 47.2 percent. Offensively, Washington is averaging 113.5 points per contest while shooting 46.5 percent from the floor. John Wall is out for the season with a heel injury, but Washington has seemed to play better without him. Bradley Beal is leading the team with 24.8 points, 5.0 rebounds and 5.0 assists per game.
NBA Betting Trends
New York
The Knicks are 1-5 against the spread in their last six conference games and 0-5 ATS in their last five games against a losing team.
Washington
The Wizards are 6-1 against the spread in their last seven conference games and 6-0 ATS in their last six games after allowing 100 points or more in their previous game.
Prediction:
The London element can provide some unpredictability today. It’s hard to know how overseas travel can impact a player. Still, the Knicks are without Kanter and could be without their leading scorer. Washington is playing some of its best basketball right now. Outside of a loss at Philly, the Wizards have played very well and competitive over the last two-three weeks. Their offense is hitting a stride without Wall and they shouldn’t have a problem outscoring this New York team.
NBA Prediction: Washington Wizards -7.5
