Grizzlies falling apart

The Grizzlies are coming off a 112-108 loss at Miami on Saturday for their seventh loss in eight games. Memphis is also just 1-8 against the spread in its last nine. The Grizzlies are 19-23 on the season, 8-14 on the road, 18-24 against the spread and 25-17 with the under.

Memphis does have the top defense in the NBA, allowing just 102.7 points per game while holding opponents to 44.7 percent shooting. Offensively, Memphis ranks second-to-last in the NBA, averaging just 101 points per contest. They also are the league’s worst-rebounding team at 39.8 per game. Mike Conley is leading the team with 20.2 points and 6.2 assists per game while Marc Gasol is adding 15.7 points and 8.6 rebounds per game.

Rockets fall at Orlando

Houston suffered a 116-109 loss last night in Orlando after struggling from the arc. The Rockets have lost three of their last five games. Houston is 24-18 on the season, 15-6 at home, 21-20-1 against the spread and 24-18 with the over.

The Rockets are allowing just 109.5 points per game on defense, which ranks 12th in the NBA right now. They are fourth in the league in defensive 3-point percentage, as opponents hit just 33.6 percent of their attempts. Offensively, Houston is putting up 111.3 points per game. The Rockets will continue to be without Eric Gordon and Chris Paul until later this month due to injuries. James Harden is leading the team with 34.2 points, 6.2 rebounds and 8.8 assists per game. Clint Capela is adding 17.6 points and 12.6 rebounds per contest.

NBA Betting Trends

Memphis

The Grizzlies are 2-7 against the spread in their last nine conference games and 2-8 ATS in their last 10 games playing on 1 day of rest.

Houston

The Rockets are 13-3-1 against the spread in their last 17 home games and 9-1-1 ATS in their last 11 conference games.

Prediction:

The Rockets have a quick turnaround from last night, but they blew a big lead on Sunday and James Harden was 1 of 17 from 3-point land in the loss. I would expect him to be motivated to cleanse that game from his pallet. That should happen tonight against a Memphis team that has no ability to score at a high rate. The Rockets should easily be able to run past this Memphis team at home.

NBA Prediction: Houston Rockets -6
