Raptors win fourth straight
The Toronto Raptors are coming off a 122-105 win at home over Brooklyn on Friday for their fourth straight win. They are 3-1 against the spread in these four games. The Raptors are 32-12 on the season, 14-8 on the road, 20-24 against the spread and 26-18 with the over.
The Raptors have been steady on both sides of the court this season, averaging 113.4 points per game on offense while shooting 47.4 percent from the floor. Defensively, Toronto is giving up 107.8 points per game while holding opponents to 45.3 percent shooting. The Raptors haven’t been fully healthy for a while, but are close to being 100 percent now. Kawhi Leonard is leading the team with 27.1 points and 7.9 rebounds per game while Serge Ibaka is adding 16.1 points and 7.3 rebounds per contest.
Wizards rolling at home
Washington is coming off a 113-106 win over Milwaukee at home on Friday. The Wizards have won and covered the spread in four straight at home. Washington is 18-25 on the season, 13-7 at home, 18-25 against the spread and 25-18 with the over.
The Wizards are putting up 113 points per game on offense this season despite shooting just 33.7 percent from the arc. Defensively, Washington has struggled. The Wizards give up 116.3 points per game while allowing opponents to shoot 47.2 percent. Bradley Beal is playing very well for the Wizards, averaging 24.4 points, 4.8 rebounds and 4.8 assists per game. Trevor Ariza is adding 13.8 points and 5.5 rebounds per contest.
NBA Betting Trends
The Raptors are just 1-6 against the spread in their last seven road games and 5-11 ATS in their last 16 games playing on 1 day of rest.
The Wizards are 6-1 against the spread in their last seven games overall and 5-1 ATS in their last seven conference games.
I’ve overlooked the Wizards at home in their last two big games but I am not going to do it again. This team has been playing very well at home, beating some of the best in the NBA by comfortable margins. They are averaging close to 118 points at home and their defense is slowly improving over their last five games. Once again, it appears that the Wizards are a better team without John Wall. Given Toronto’s inconsistency at covering on the road, I will take the Wizards with a handful of points.
NBA Prediction: Washington Wizards +6.5
