On Tuesday, Ryan Saunders won his first game as interim coach of the Minnesota Timberwolves, who have won three straight games and six of their last nine. Will the T-Wolves make it four straight with a win and cover versus the Mavericks on Friday night?

Public Betting Trends
According to oddsmakers from online sportsbook BetNow.eu, the Timberwolves are 5-point favorites to beat the Mavericks. The total, meanwhile, sits at 224 points and as of this writing, 64% of the public betting tickets wagered at online sportsbooks are on the Timberwolves to cover the point spread.
Dallas Mavericks Fantasy Spin
Coach Rick Carlisle said that Dirk Nowitzki (illness) will play Friday vs. the Wolves. Dirk missed each of the Mavs last two contests after being rested and then dealing with an illness, but will return to game action on Friday. However, Nowitzki is seeing only limited minutes off the Mavs bench this season and is not on the fantasy radar.
Minnesota Timberwolves Fantasy Spin
Derrick Rose (right ankle sprain) has been upgraded to probable for Friday's game vs. the Mavs. It was reported earlier in the day that Rose would be a game-time decision; however, Rose himself told reporters that he will play Friday night. Now we have further evidence Rose is on track to suit up. Rose was enjoying a phenomenal season under coach Tom Thibodeau before Thibs was fired earlier this week. This will be Rose's first game playing for interim head Ryan Saunders. Nonetheless, we can assume he'll remain the team's sixth man and primary scorer off the bench. Tyus Jones will see his minutes reduced with Rose back in action.
NBA Betting Trends
Dallas
The Mavericks are 5-2 against the spread in their last seven road games.
Minnesota
The Timberwolves have covered the number in seven of their last seven home games.
Prediction
The Timberwolves had a spark in them on Tuesday playing under Saunders and while this team may ultimately still underachieve when it’s all said and done, I’m going to ride the new coach waive while I can. The favorite is 17-5 against the spread in the last 22 meetings between these two teams while the home team is 6-2 against the number in the last eight meetings. While the Mavericks are just 1-4 at the betting window in their last five games coming off a win, the T-Wolves have covered the spread in seven of their last nine home games when facing an opponent with a road winning percentage of less than .400.
Friday NBA Prediction: Minnesota Timberwolves -5
