Lakers cautious about Davis

Los Angeles is riding a six-game win streak right now after beating the Knights on Tuesday, 117-87, but Anthony Davis took a hard fall during the game and could miss some time. The Lakers are 30-7 on the season, 15-3 on the road, 19-17-1 against the spread and 22-15 with the under.

The Lakers are solid on both sides of the floor. The offense has been putting up 112.8 points per game while shooting a league-best 48.2 percent from the floor. Defensively, the Lakers are giving up 104.9 points per game while holding opponents to 43.7 percent shooting. Davis is listed as questionable for the game tonight after suffering a lower back injury in the fall against the Knicks. He is averaging 27.1 points and 9.4 rebounds per game this season. LeBron James is leading Los Angeles this season with 25.1 points, 7.8 rebounds and 10.8 assists per game.

Mavs in a bit of a funk

Dallas has been having a pretty good season, but the Mavericks are coming off a 107-106 loss at home to Denver for a fourth loss in six games. Dallas comes into tonight 23-14 on the season, 11-9 at home, 19-17-1 against the spread and 23-14 with the over.

The Mavericks are one of the stronger offenses in the NBA. Dallas is averaging 116.4 points per game this season while shooting 46.2 percent as a team. Defensively, the Mavs are giving up 109.2 points per contest while opponents shoot 44.7 percent against them. Dallas continues to be without a big piece in forward Kristaps Porzingis. He is averaging 17.3 points and 9.4 rebounds per game this season for Dallas. Luka Doncic is averaging 29.6 points, 9.7 rebounds and 9.0 assists per contest to lead the team.

NBA Betting Trends

Los Angeles

The Lakers are 7-3-1 against the spread in their last 11 Friday games, but just 3-8-1 ATS in their last 12 games overall.

Dallas

The Mavericks are 1-4-1 against the spread in their last six games overall and 1-3-1 ATS in their last five games as a favorite.

Prediction:

The Davis situation is certainly going to play a big role in this game. The Lakers are a far different team without him and I don’t see them getting this win or cover on the road if he can’t go. I think Los Angeles will be smart with him and he has to still be dealing with a pretty solid bruise from that hard fall. Dallas has the better depth here, as we saw what the Lakers were last year when LeBron was the only real offensive option. I think Doncic can do more right now with his roster than LeBron can with his, as long as Davis is out. The Mavs already own a win over the Lakers and have went to OT in another meeting. I think they find a way to even the series tonight and get the cover.

NBA Prediction: Dallas Mavericks -2
