Nuggets continue road trip
Denver is playing its fifth straight road game tonight. The Nuggets are 2-2 on the road trip thus far and coming off a 123-115 win at Atlanta on Monday night. The Nuggets are 25-11 on the season, 10-7 on the road, 14-18-4 against the spread and 19-17 with the under.
The Nuggets have been led this season by their defense, which is allowing just 105.2 points per game while holding opponents to 45.3 percent shooting from the field and 32.7 percent shooting from the arc. Offensively, Denver is putting up 109.2 points per game while shooting 46.2 percent from the field. Will Barton will miss tonight’s game for personal reasons. He averages 14.8 points, 7.0 rebounds and 3.7 assists per game for the Nuggets. Nikola Jokic is leading Denver on the season with 18.9 points, 9.8 rebounds and 6.4 assists per contest.
Mavs struggling to get back on track
Dallas has been dealing with some injuries as of late and they haven’t been able to get themselves on a win streak lately. The Mavs are just 5-5 over their last 10. Dallas is 23-13 on the season, 11-8 at home, 19-16-1 against the spread and 23-13 with the over.
The Mavericks are one of the stronger offenses in the NBA this season, averaging 116.7 points per game while shooting 46 percent from the floor. Defensively, Dallas is giving up 109.3 points per game while opponents shoot 44.7 percent against them. The Mavs were without Luka Doncic not too long ago due to an ankle injury and now are without Kristaps Porzingis due to a knee injury. Doncic is averaging 29.7 points, 9.7 rebounds and 8.9 assists per game to lead Dallas, while Porzingis is averaging 17.3 points and 9.4 rebounds per contest.
NBA Betting Trends
The Nuggets are 1-3-1 against the spread in their last five games as an underdog and 2-6-2 ATS in their last 10 road games against a winning team.
The Mavericks are 11-5-1 against the spread in their last 17 games as a favorite and 13-5 ATS in their last 18 games against a team with a winning percentage above .600.
Dallas won the first meeting with Denver back on Oct. 29, a 109-106 road victory. Denver has seen a nice boost in offense as of late and the Nuggets will need it if they hope to win tonight. However, not having Barton tonight will be an issue. He helps contribute about 20 points per game through his scoring and passing. The Mavs are an offensive power and they should be able to score just fine at home against Denver. They have put up at least 118 in their last three at home. Denver won’t be able to compete with that pace. Even without Porzingis, I expect Doncic to lead the way and push the Mavs to the victory and cover.
NBA Prediction: Dallas Mavericks -3
