Nets looking to get to .500

The Brooklyn Nets have won three straight games, covering the spread in all three, to get within a game of the .500 mark. Brooklyn is 20-21 on the season, 10-10 on the road, 22-19 against the spread and 22-19 with the over.

The Nets are in the middle of the road on both offense and defense this year, averaging 111.1 points per game while giving up 111.4 per contest. D’Angelo Russell is leading the team with 18.4 points and 6.4 assists per game while Spencer Dinwiddie is adding 17.2 points and 5.2 assists per contest.

Celtics still rolling

The Celtics are coming off back-to-back wins and covers at home and they have won five of their last seven games coming into tonight. Boston is now 23-15 on the season, 13-5 at home, 20-18 against the spread and 24-14 with the over.

Boston has one of the top defenses in the NBA, allowing just 105.6 points per game while holding opponents to 44.3 percent shooting from the field and 33.2 percent from the arc. Marcus Morris, Kyrie Irving and Jaylen Brown are all dealing with injuries but are expected to play tonight. Irving is averaging 23.1 points and 6.6 assists per game to lead the team while Jayson Tatum is averaging 16.1 points and 6.5 rebounds per contest.

NBA Betting Trends

Brooklyn

The Nets have covered the spread in five straight division games and in 11 of their last 13 games after scoring 100 points ore more in their previous game.

Boston

The Celtics are 8-2 against the spread in their last 10 conference games and 27-8 ATS in their last 35 home games.

Prediction:

These two have yet to meet this year. The Nets have been one of the stronger teams in the league over the last handful of weeks and I think they can cover this big spread at Boston. They have covered in their last two road games and they face a Boston team tonight that is a little beat up. The Celtics certainly are the better team on paper, but winning by double figures isn’t a given. Brooklyn should be motivated against a division foe and for the chance to get to the .500 mark.

NBA Prediction: Brooklyn Nets +9.5
