According to oddsmakers at BetNow.eu, the Heat are favored on the road, as they are getting odds of -6 points against the Hawks. The over/under total for the contest is listed at 220 points. The public betting for this game currently has 79 percent going on the Heat on the road. This information is subject to change, however, so be sure to check out our NBA Public Betting Page for updated figures on the game.

Heat seek third straight win

The Miami Heat are looking for their third straight win tonight after picking up victories over Cleveland and Washington this week. The Heat come into today 19-18 on the season, 10-7 on the road, 21-16 against the spread and 21-16 with the over.

Miami has a respectable defense, as the Heat are allowing just 105.8 points per game while opponents are held to just 43.7 percent shooting. Offensively, Miami is putting up only 107.2 points per game while shooting just 43.9 percent from the floor. Miami is without guard Goran Dragic, who is out until February with a knee injury. Josh Richardson is leading the team with 18.5 points per game while Hassan Whiteside is adding 13.1 points, 13.0 rebounds and 2.53 blocks per contest.

Hawks drop three straight

Atlanta has lost three straight games coming into today, all on the road. They are also just 1-3 against the spread in their last four games. The Hawks are 11-27 on the season, 6-10 at home, 16-22 against the spread and 21-17 with the over.

The Hawks are one of the worst defensive teams in the NBA, allowing 118.5 points per game while opponents shoot 47.5 percent from the field and 37.5 percent from the arc. Offensively, Atlanta is putting up 109.2 points per game despite shooting just 33.4 percent from the arc. Both Taurean Prince Kent Bazemore are out for the Hawks right now due to ankle injuries. John Collins is currently leading the team with 18.5 points and 10.2 rebounds per game. Trae Young is adding 15.3 points and 7.5 assists per contest.

NBA Betting Trends

Miami

The Heat have covered the spread in four straight road games and in eight of their last 10 overall.

Atlanta

The Hawks are just 1-4 against the spread in their last five conference games and 3-9 ATS in their last 12 home games.

Prediction:

Amazingly, Atlanta has won both meetings with Miami this season, including a Nov. 27 meeting at Miami. The Hawks were the underdog in both games, similar to today’s spread. Atlanta is returning home today after a three-game road trip. The Hawks have played pretty well as of late, as their shooting has been slowly improving. Miami is a defensive-minded team, but I think they will have trouble against this motivated Atlanta team this evening.

NBA Prediction: Atlanta Hawks +6
