Public Betting Trends
According to oddsmakers from online sportsbook BetNow.eu, the Hornets are 2-point favorites to beat the Suns. The total, meanwhile, sits at 224 points and as of this writing, 69% of the public betting tickets wagered at online sportsbooks are on the Hornets to cover the point spread.
Charlotte Hornets Fantasy Spin
Kemba Walker made just 6-of-17 from the field for 20 points with four rebounds, three assists, five turnovers and one 3-pointer during a 123-110 loss to the Nuggets on Saturday. He was a little cold again after only 11 points on Wednesday, but the Hornets were blown out against the Mavs. He'll get a back-to-back set on Sunday, and Walker has crushed on no rest days this year. In those five, he averaged 29.5 points, 4.4 boards, 5.0 dimes, 0.8 steals and 3.6 treys. He could post a big one on De'Anthony Melton.
Phoenix Suns Fantasy Spin
DeAndre Ayton couldn't get it going offensively against the Clippers on Friday with four points, five rebounds, three assists and one block in 27 minutes. He finally cooled off, and worse yet Marcin Gortat went off on him. Ayton had been sizzling hot over his previous 10 with 21.4 points, 13.4 boards, 1.3 steals and 0.8 blocks on 66.2 FG%, and this was really his first letdown in nine-cat leagues since Dec. 13. He'll be putting up early-round value going forward.
NBA Betting Trends
Charlotte
The Hornets are 5-20-1 at the betting window in their last 26 games coming off a loss of more than 10 points.
Phoenix
The Suns are just 4-13 against the spread in their last 17 home games when facing an opponent with a losing road record.
Prediction
It’s hard to back a Suns team with just nine wins on the season and that is 1-4 against the spread in its last five games overall but the Hornets have struggled to cover in this series. Charlotte is 1-5 against the number in its last six trips to Phoenix and 3-9 at the window in its last 12 games versus the Suns overall. The home team in this series is also 5-1 against the spread in the last six meetings between these two teams while the Hornets are 3-9 ATS in their last 12 games overall. Charlotte is 0-4 against the spread in its four road games.
