T'Wolves can’t get on track
Minnesota hasn’t been able to get much momentum going all season and the T’Wolves have alternated wins and losses over their last six games. They are coming off a 99-84 win over the Warriors at home on Thursday. Minnesota has covered the spread in three straight. The Timberwolves are 13-21 on the season, 8-10 on the road, 14-18-2 against the spread and 17-17 with the over/under total.
The Timberwolves are putting up 111.6 points per game on offense this season while shooting just 43 percent from the field. Defensively, Minnesota is allowing 114.6 points per game while opponents shoot 45.5 percent from the floor. The Timberwolves are dealing with some injuries right now. Karl-Anthony Towns is out with a knee injuries while Andrew Wiggins and Jeff Teague are both questionable. Towns and Wiggins each average about 25 points per game. Robert Covington is the active league if those three are out. He averages 12.3 points and 5.8 rebounds per game.
Cavs on a skid
Cleveland is coming off a 121-106 loss at home to Oklahoma City on Saturday. The Cavs have lost and failed to cover in three straight games. Cleveland is 10-25 on the season, 6-12 at home, 14-20-1 against the spread and 18-17 with the under.
The Cavaliers are struggling on offense this year, averaging just 104.4 points per game while shooting 44.7 percent from the field. Defensively, Cleveland is giving up 113.4 points per game while opponents shoot 48.4 percent against them. Collin Sexton is leading the Cavs with 18.5 points per game while Kevin Love is adding 16.4 points and 10.3 rebounds per outing.
NBA Betting Trends
Minnesota
The Timberwolves are 1-4 against the spread in their last five games as a favorite and 5-17 ATS in their last 22 games playing on two days of rest.
Cleveland
The Cavs are 6-2 ATS in their last eight games on no rest and 5-2 ATS in their last seven games as a home underdog.
Prediction:
Cleveland already picked up a road win over the Timberwolves last week and I think they will pick up the win at home as well. The Cavaliers are going to be able to control the paint in this game with Towns out due to injury. Tristan Thompson and Love will be all over the glass and their ability to rebound the ball against Minnesota tonight should help push them over the edge.
