Nuggets beat down in Houston

Denver had been playing well as of late, but were thoroughly outmatched by the Rockets in Houston on Tuesday night in a 130-104 loss. The Nuggets are just 0-4-1 against the spread in their last five games. Denver is 23-10 on the season, 8-6 on the road, 12-17-4 against the spread and 19-14 with the under.

The Nuggets are one of the top defensive teams in the NBA this season, allowing just 105.4 points per game while opponents shoot 43.7 percent from the field. Offensively, Denver is putting up 108.2 points per game while shooting 45.8 percent from the field. Nikola Jokic is leading the team with 18.1 points, 9.9 rebounds and 6.7 assists per game. Jamal Murray is adding 17.1 points, 4.2 rebounds and 4.6 assists per contest.

Pacers lock up Philly

Indiana is coming off a solid win at home over Philadelphia on Tuesday night, 115-97. The Pacers are just 2-3 in their last five, straight up and against the spread. Indiana is 22-12 on the season, 15-3 at home, 19-14-1 against the spread and 18-15-1 with the under.

The Pacers are also a solid defense, allowing just 105.4 points per game while opponents shoot 43.7 percent from the field. Offensively, Indiana is putting up 109.1 points per game while shooting 46.7 percent from the field. The team is already without Victor Oladipo since the start of the year, now Malcolm Brogdon is doubtful to play tonight due to a back injury. He averages 17.7 points and 7.4 assists per game. T.J. Warren is leading Indiana right now with 17.8 points per game, while Domantas Sabonis is adding 17.5 points and 13.3 rebounds per contest.

NBA Betting Trends

Denver

The Nuggets are 1-4-1 against the spread in their last six road games and 1-3-1 ATS in their last five games as a road underdog.

Indiana

The Pacers are 5-1 against the spread in their last six home games and 7-3 ATS in their last 10 games overall.

Prediction:

These two haven’t met this season, but the Pacers have covered in four straight against the Nuggets. My gut wants to go with Denver due to Brogdon being out, but he left Tuesday’s game early and Indiana was still able to soundly beat Philly at home. Denver isn’t an overpowering offense, so this game is likely to be close no matter what. Indiana can contain the Nuggets with their defense and Sabonis can compete with Jokic in the paint. Despite Denver’s recent wins, they haven’t been good at the betting window. I think playing a winning team with a lot of grit is going to be a problem.

NBA Prediction: Indiana Pacers -1.5
