Public Betting Trends
According to oddsmakers from online sportsbook BetNow.eu, the Heat are 6-point favorites to beat the Cavs. The total, meanwhile, sits at 202 points and as of this writing, 51% of the public betting tickets wagered at online sportsbooks are on the Heat to cover the point spread.
Miami Heat Fantasy Spin
Dwyane Wade (illness) did not attend shootaround and is questionable for Wednesday's game against the Cavs. It wouldn't be all that shocking to see Wade skip a game against the 8-29 Cavs, and if that's the case, Josh Richardson and Tyler Johnson would be in line for heavy minutes while Wayne Ellington could return to the rotation. Check back for another update closer to tip-off.
Cleveland Cavs Fantasy Spin
Tristan Thompson (foot) is being listed as questionable for Wednesday's game against the Heat. This is the first time that Thompson has been hit with the questionable tag since going down with the foot injury, and he said after shootaround that he'll be ready if his number is called, so it sounds like he'll be available to play tonight. If he is able to play, he'll likely be limited in his first game back from a three-week absence, but his return will cut into Channing Frye and Larry Nance's minutes.
NBA Betting Trends
Miami
The Heat have covered in eight of their last nine road games and seven of their last eight games overall.
Cleveland
The Cavs have failed to cover in five of their last seven home games.
Prediction
The Cavs have been horrendous all year but this line feels inflated. The home team is 13-3 against the spread in the last 16 meetings between these two teams and the Heat are just 2-6 at the betting window in their last eight games in Cleveland. The Cavs are also 5-2 against the number in their last seven games versus Southeast opponents and are 4-1 ATS in their last five games when their opponent scores 100 points or more in their previous game.
