Yankees roll with seven-run third inning
New York took a 7-0 lead in the third inning Tuesday night after breaking a scoreless tie en route to a 9-2 win. Andrew McCutchen went 1-for-2 with two walks and a run in the win. Luke Voit was 1-for-4 with a double, a walk, a run and an RBI. Giancarlo Stanton finished 1-for-4 with a double, a walk and two runs. Neil Walker finished 1-for-4 with a triple, a walk, a run and an RBI. Miguel Andujar ended the night 1-for-4 with a 2-run home run. Gary Sanchez was 2-for-4 with a home run and four RBIs. Angel Hechavarria finished 1-for-4 with a solo homer. Luis Severino picked up the win as he gave up two earned runs on four hits with seven strikeouts and three walks over five innings.
Lowe has perfect night in defeat
Joey Wendle was 1-for-4 with a double and a run last night, while Tommy Pham finished 1-for-3 with a double and a run. Brandon Lowe finished a perfect 3-for-3 with two doubles, a walk and two RBIs. Jake Faria suffered the loss as he allowed three earned runs on four hits with two strikeouts and a walk in 2 1/3 innings.
Masahiro Tanaka (12-5, 3.67 ERA) will start tonight for New York, while Tampa Bay counters with Ryne Stanek (2-3, 2.70).
MLB Betting Trends
New York
The Yankees are 14-6 in their last 20 road games. The over is 7-2 in Tanaka's last nine Wednesday starts.
Tampa Bay
The Rays are 3-10 in their last 13 times facing Tanaka. The under is 19-6-1 in the last 26 meetings.
Prediction:
It's hard to predict how a Rays bullpen day will go, but it's been an effective strategy much of the season. New York knows it will be playing in the AL Wild Card game and could go on cruise control this week, although it only holds a two-game lead over Oakland in the bid to host the game. I'm going to say the Yankees take their foot off the gas pedal enough tonight and Tanaka has one of his poor starts, which can happen basically any night with him as he's shown in his career.
