Dodgers shut out on three hits
Los Angeles was unable to put much together Saturday night at New York in what ended as a 3-0 defeat. A.J. Pollock paced the Dodgers offense as he finished 1-for-2, while Corey Seager went 1-for-3. Cody Bellinger ended the contest 1-for-4. Joe Kelly took the loss in relief as he gave up one earned run on no hits with one strikeout and no walks in one-third of an inning. Walker Buehler gets the start tonight for Los Angeles as he enters with a 13-3 record, 3.13 ERA and 1.02 WHIP plus 201 strikeouts over 166 1/3 innings pitched.
Davis' 3-run double wins it
Rajai Davis socked a pinch-hit three-run double in the bottom of the eighth inning to break a scoreless tie last night as host New York downed Los Angeles by a count of 3-0. Amed Rosario ended the contest 1-for-3 with a walk and a run scored. Robinson Cano was also 1-for-3. Seth Lugo registered the win in relief as he struck out the side in one perfect inning of work. Justin Wilson earned the save as he struck out one in one perfect frame. Zack Wheeler takes the mound tonight as he comes in with an 11-7 record, 4.21 ERA and 1.31 WHIP plus 170 strikeouts across 173 1/3 innings pitched.
MLB Betting Trends
Los Angeles
The Dodgers are 4-0 in the last four Buehler starts. Los Angeles is 41-16 in its last 57 Sunday games.
New York
The Mets are 5-1 in their last six games overall. New York is 8-2 in the last 10 Wheeler home starts.
Prediction:
Wheeler has pitched very well lately, but will have his hands full matching up with Buehler. Rather than pick a side for this game, I'd rather go with the under as I can't imagine either offense explodes here. The Dodgers have an explosive offense, but as a team they are not as good away from home and it's getaway day. I'm banking on a close, low-scoring affair here.
