Arizona scores two in eighth to win

The Diamondbacks scored twice in the eighth inning last night to secure a 4-2 victory at the Astros. A.J. Pollock helped pace Arizona by going 2-for-5 with an RBI from the leadoff spot. Eduardo Escobar walked twice in five plate appearances and scored a run. Paul Goldschmidt was 2-for-5 with two doubles and a run. David Peralta went 3-for-5 with two RBIs. Nick Ahmed finished 2-for-3 with two doubles, a walk and a run. Brad Ziegler picked up the win in relief as he gave up one hit with one strikeout and one walk over 1 1/3 innings. Yoshihisa Hirano worked around a hit and a walk in a scoreless ninth inning to record his second save of the season.

Gurriel reaches base twice

George Springer finished 1-for-4 with a run in last night's defeat versus Arizona. Yuli Gurriel went 1-for-3 with a walk and an RBI. Carlos Correa was 1-for-3 with a walk. Hector Rondon suffered the loss in relief as he gave up two earned runs on three hits with two strikeouts in 1 1/3 innings.

Zack Godley (14-9, 4.67) draws the start today for the D-backs, while the Astros counter with Charlie Morton (14-3, 3.15).

MLB Betting Trends

The under is 11-2 in the last 13 Diamondbacks road games. Arizona is 2-6 in its last eight road games.

The Astros are 17-5 in their last 22 games. The under is 19-6-2 in the last 27 Houston interleague games.

Two pitchers with plus stuff take the mound today. The differences for me is that the Astros are at home and Morton harnesses his pitches better, while Godley can get a little wild and be prone to big innings. Look for Houston to even this series up at a game apiece tonight.
