D-backs hammered in finale at Rockies

Arizona lost by a count of 10-3 Thursday afternoon in the finale of its series at Colorado. A.J. Pollock was 1-for-4 with a solo home run in the defeat. Steven Souza Jr. was 2-for-4 with a triple and a run. Nick Ahmed went 2-for-4 with a run and an RBI. Matt Koch suffered the loss in relief as he allowed four earned runs on eight hits in three innings, striking out two and walking two.

Astros earn sweep at Tigers

Houston won all three games at Detroit, winning the finale 5-4 Wednesday afternoon. George Springer went 2-for-5 with a run scored from the leadoff spot to help pace the offense. Alex Bregman was 2-for-5 with his 50th double of the season, a run scored and three RBIs. Marwin Gonzalez finished 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI. Jake Marisnick went 2-for-3 with a walk and a run. Gerrit Cole picked up the win as he gave up two earned runs on three hits with nine strikeouts and four walks over five innings. Ryan Pressly threw a perfect ninth inning with a strikeout for his first save of the season.

Robbie Ray (5-2, 4.18 ERA) will start today for Arizona, while Houston turns to Dallas Keuchel (11-10, 3.59).

MLB Betting Trends

Arizona

The under is 10-2 in the last 12 Cardinals road games. The over is 6-2 in the last eight D-backs games on Fridays.

Houston

The Astros are 19-7 in their last 26 games overall. The under is 18-6-2 in the last 26 Houston interleague games.

Prediction:

While Ray has pitched better as of late, Arizona is struggling too much as a whole to trust and is coming off a disappointing series in which it could have picked up ground in the standings. I'm pulling the trigger on Houston as the favorite here with the dependable Keuchel guiding the way.
