Tanaka tosses gem

Masahiro Tanaka threw eight shutout innings in a 4-0 triumph at the Mariners last night. He allowed three hits while striking out 10 and walking none. Andrew McCutchen helped pace the Yankees offense as he was 1-for-3 with a 2-run home run plus a walk. Luke Voit went 2-for-4 and scored a run. Gleyber Torres finished 1-for-4 with a 2-run homer. Brett Gardner went 1-for-2 and scored a run.

Segura reaches base twice

Seattle shortstop Jean Segura was 1-for-3 with a walk in Friday's loss to New York. Robinson Cano went 1-for-4, while Mike Zunino finished 1-for-3 with a double. James Paxton suffered the loss as he surrendered four earned runs on five hits over six innings, striking out eight and walking one.

Lance Lynn (8-10, 5.10 ERA) will draw the start today for the Yankees, while the Mariners are turning to Felix Hernandez (8-13, 5.55).

MLB Betting Trends

New York

The Yankees are 10-3 in their last 13 road games. New York is 37-15 in its last 52 Saturday games.

Seattle

The Mariners are 5-11 in their last 16 home games. Seattle is 1-7 in Hernandez' last eight starts.

Prediction:

Lynn has had some good moments with the Yankees, but is still prone to getting shelled. Speaking of shells, Hernandez is a shell of his former dominant self. It's difficult to pick a side in this contest, but signs point toward runs being scored. Expect the offenses to bounce back after yesterday's game where pitching was the story. Take the over in this one.
