Padres activate Mitchell from the disabled list
Padres activated RHP Bryan Mitchell from the 10-day disabled list. Mitchell missed more than two months with a right elbow impingement, an injury that early on didn't appear to be one that would cost him such a big chunk of his season. He'll rejoin a bullpen that's without Brad Hand, but Kirby Yates should still keep a grip on the closer job moving forward. Mitchell, who started and pitched in relief before the injury, comes back to a 7.08 ERA and 2.03 WHIP.
Diamondbacks’ Godley strong in win over Giants
Zack Godley limited the Giants to one run and two hits in 7 2/3 innings to earn a victory Wednesday. Godley left with the shutout intact, but Archie Bradley gave up an RBI single after taking over with two on in the eighth. The Diamondbacks still held on to win 3-1. The inconsistent Godley has allowed two runs or fewer in six of his last 10 starts, though he came into this one having given up 11 runs in his previous two starts. He'll remain a somewhat risky play in mixed leagues, but at least he has a quality team supporting him.
