Syndergaard tosses first career complete game
New York hurler Noah Syndergaard threw his first-ever complete game at the MLB level Sunday afternoon to lead his squad to a 4-1 win at the Giants. Syndergaard allowed one earned run on two hits with 11 strikeouts and one walk over the nine innings. Jeff McNeil went 2-for-4 with two RBIs to help pace the offense. Todd Frazier was 2-for-4 with two doubles and a run. Michael Conforto contributed a 2-run homer in four at-bats. Brandon Nimmo walked twice in four plate appearances.
Dodgers take three of four from D-backs
Los Angeles took over first place in the NL West over the weekend by taking three of four against visiting Arizona, winning 3-2 Sunday afternoon on a walk-off two-run double by Matt Kemp. It was the second straight game Kemp recorded the game-winning hit. Kemp entered the game late and finished 1-for-2 with the 2-run double. Max Muncy was 1-for-3 with a solo home run, his 31st of the season, plus a walk. Walker Buehler helped his own cause by going 2-for-2. Kenley Jansen picked up the win in relief as he allowed one hit with one strikeout in an inning of work.
The hard-luck deGrom (8-8, 1.68 ERA) will be on the mound for the Mets, while the Dodgers counter with Alex Wood (8-6, 3.42).
MLB Betting Trends
New York
The under is 8-2-1 in deGrom's last 11 road starts. The under is 17-5-1 in deGrom's last 23 starts on grass.
Los Angeles
The Dodgers are 8-1 in their last nine games overall. The under is 9-3-1 in the last 13 Los Angeles home games.
Prediction:
I'd love to pull the trigger on the Mets, but I can never trust them to score enough when deGrom is on the hill. Los Angeles has been playing a slew of low-scoring games lately and it should struggle to score today against a premier pitcher. I think the best play on the board in this game is the under.
