Tigers drop two straight

The Tigers have lost the last two games int his series following a 2-1 loss on Saturday. They have lost seven of their last eight coming into today. Detroit is 54-82 overall and 20-48 on the road. The Tigers are putting up 3.84 runs per game on offense while allowing 4.80 per contest.

Matthew Boyd takes the mound for New York today. He is 8-12 through 26 starts with a 4.22 ERA and a 1.14 WHIP. Boyd has recorded 131 strikeouts and 45 walks over 147.0 innings of work this year.

Yankees trying to get on track

The Yankees have managed to win the last two over Detroit after they had a brief funk of losing three of four. New York is now 86-50 overall and 48-23 at home. The Yankees are scoring 5.19 runs per game this year while allowing 4.06 per contest on defense.

Lance Lynn takes the mound on Sunday for New York. He is 8-9 on the season through 25 starts this year, but is 1-1 through six starts with New York. Lynn has a 4.84 ERA this year and a 1.57 WHIP. He has recorded 138 strikeouts and 71 walks over 134.0 innings of work.

MLB Betting Trends

Detroit

The Tigers have lost 15 of Boyd’s last 18 road starts and they are just 6-15 in his last 21 starts against a winning team.

New York

The Yankees have won 66 of their last 92 at home and 22 of their last 30 home games against a left-handed starter.

Prediction:

The Tigers have been competitive in this series, but just don’t have the horses at the plate or on the mound to beat New York consistently. I don’t trust New York to win big, unfortunately, after a loss on Thursday and just a 1-run win on Saturday. So, I will have to trust Lynn to be good enough to lead New York to a win, or for the Yankees to start heating up at the plate against Boyd.

The Pick: New York Yankees -250
