Reds edged

Cincinnati suffered a 3-2 loss to the Pirates on Friday, ending their chances of a three-game win streak. Cincy has had four of its last five games decided by one run. Cincinnati is 60-67 on the season, 23-36 on the road and 74-48 with the under. The Reds have Alex Wood on the mound today. He is 1-2 on the season with a 5.92 ERA.

The Reds held a 2-1 lead entering the ninth, but gave up two runs to the Reds. Raisel Iglesias blew his fourth save and dropped to 2-4 on the year by giving up two runs on four hits while recording just one out. Anthony DeSclafani threw six innings in the start and gave up just one run on five hits. Aristides Aquino led Cincy at the plate with a home run, three hits and two RBI. Freddy Galvis added two hits and scored a run.

Pirates struggling to score

Despite the win on Friday, the Pirates have scored just 10 runs over their last seven games. The Pirates are 53-75 on the season, 27-37 at home and 72-52 with the over. Pittsburgh has Trevor Williams getting the start today. He is 5-6 on the season with a 5.65 ERA.

Mitch Keller threw six innings and allowed just one run in the start on Friday. He struck out nine. Felipe Vazquez got the win in relief with a perfect ninth. Adam Frazier and Pablo Reyes each had a RBI single in the ninth while Reyes had his come in walk-off fashion. Colin Moran drove in the other run for Pittsburgh in the win.

MLB Betting Trends

Cincinnati

The Reds are 5-1 in their last six Saturday games and 8-3 in their last 11 against a losing team.

Pittsburgh

The Pirates are 5-16 in their last 21 home games and 1-8 in their last nine following a win.

Prediction:

Wood has just five starts this year and all have been somewhat shaky. His two road starts have actually been his best two starts this year. Williams has been a dumpster fire the last couple weeks, giving up 19 runs over his last 12 innings. He has a 6.99 ERA at home this year and that is going to be a problem with Pittsburgh unable to produce runs lately. Cincinnati isn’t an offensive power either, but the Reds have more scoring potential and a slightly better starting pitcher.

MLB Prediction: Cincinnati Reds -120
