Duffy, Kiermaier lead way

Tampa Bay secured a 5-3 victory Friday night at Seattle to improve to 67-50 overall and 36-22 on the road. Matt Duffy helped lead the Rays offense 2-for-3 with a double and a run scored. Kevin Kiermaier also went 2-for-3 with a run. Tommy Pham was 1-for-4 with a walk, a run and an RBI. Oliver Drake picked up the win in relief as he gave up two hits with two strikeouts and no walks over one scoreless frame. Emilio Pagan secured his 10th save of the season as he allowed one earned run on one hit with one strikeout and no walks over one inning of work. Charlie Morton gets the start tonight for Tampa Bay as he enters with a 12-4 record, 2.77 ERA and 1.07 WHIP with 174 strikeouts over 143 innings.

Seattle fell 5-3 at home Friday night versus Tampa Bay to drop to 48-69 overall and 27-34 at home. Ryan Court led the Mariners offense as he ended the contest 2-for-4 with a home run and two RBIs. Domingo Santana went 1-for-3 with a walk and an RBI. Daniel Vogelbach was 2-for-4 with a double. Anthony Bass took the loss in relief as he gave up three runs (two earned) on one hit with no strikeouts and three walks over one inning of work. Tommy Milone draws the start tonight for Seattle as he comes in with a 1-6 record, 4.33 ERA and 1.09 WHIP with 68 strikeouts over 70 2/3 innings pitched.

While Milone has dealt with some bad luck and his overall numbers are pretty solid, he isn't likely to have much run support to work with here. Morton has been consistent and sometimes dominant all season. With the M's offense having been no-hit twice over the last month and struggling almost always against good pitching, I don't see a reason that will change here. Go with the Rays to win again.
