Brewers hit back-to-back-to-back homers
Jesus Aguilar, Travis Shaw and Eric Thames hit back-to-back-to-back home runs in the first inning last night as Milwaukee cruised to an 8-4 victory. Milwaukee opened up a 5-0 lead as it batted around in the first inning. Christian Yelich was 1-for-5 with a solo home run from the leadoff spot. Lorenzo Cain went 2-for-5 with two runs, while Mike Moustakas finished 2-for-4 and scored a run. Aguilar was 2-for-4 with a home run and three RBIs. Shaw finished 2-for-3 with the home run and two RBIs. Thames went 1-for-4 with the solo home run. Orlando Arcia ended the night 3-for-4 with a solo homer. Jhoulys Chacin earned the win as he allowed three earned runs on six hits over six innings, striking out three and walking one.
Kennedy struggles in MLB debut
Brett Kennedy had gone 10-0 in Triple A this season, but was shelled in his MLB debut yesterday as he surrendered six earned runs on 11 hits with three strikeouts and no walks over over four innings. Hunter Renfroe led the offensive effort by going 2-for-4 with a home run and two RBIs. Austin Hedges finished 2-for-4 and scored a run.
Robbie Erlin (2-3, 3.34 ERA) will start today for San Diego, while Milwaukee will counter with Junior Guerra (6-7, 3.42).
MLB Betting Trends
San Diego
The Padres are 3-8 in their last 11 Thursday games. San Diego is 2-7 in its last nine games following a loss.
Milwaukee
The Brewers are 6-2 in Guerra's last eight starts. Milwaukee is 1-4 in its last five games versus a left-handed starter.
Prediction:
After San Diego won easily in the series opener, the tables turned yesterday and I would expect more of the same today. Guerra has had a solid season and will be facing a weak offense today, although the Padres have done well their last few games producing runs. Erlin is very hittable and look for one of the better offenses in the National Leagu to take advantage.
