Mariners take opener
The Mariners took the series opener on Monday, 4-3 in extra innings. Seattle had lost five straight but has won its last two coming into tonight. The Mariners are 65-48 overall and 29-24 on the road. Seattle is putting up 4.14 runs per game this year while allowing 4.30 per contest.
Felix Hernandez gets the start for Seattle tonight. He is 8-9 through 22 starts with a 5.49 ERA and a 1.41 WHIP. King Felix has 97 strikeouts and 42 walks over 118.0 innings of work.
Rangers lose two straight
The Rangers have lost two straight games coming into Tuesday, losing at home to Baltimore and Seattle. The Rangers are now 49-65 overall and 23-26 at home. Texas is putting up 4.69 runs per game this year, but allowing 5.24 per contest.
Bartolo Colon is getting the start for the Rangers tonight. He has a 5-10 record through 20 starts with a 5.18 ERA and a 1.28 WHIP. Colon has pitched a total of 123.1 innings this year and has 71 strikeouts with 22 walks.
MLB Betting Trends
Seattle
The Mariners are 2-8 in their last 10 following a win and 1-4 in Hernandez’ last five road starts.
Texas
The Rangers have lost Colon’s last five starts and they are 4-11 in their last 15 home games.
Prediction:
Both pitchers have been struggling. Colon has allowed at least five runs in each of his last three starts. Hernandez has been steady at giving up runs as well, but allowed just two in his last starts. Still, King Felix has a 6.10 ERA against the Rangers this year while Colon has a 2.70 ERA against Seattle over two starts. The Mariners lack of hitting is a concern for this game while I think Texas should be able to get to Hernandez.
The Pick: Texas Rangers -105
