Bichette powers Jays to win
Toronto earned a 4-1 victory at Kansas City Wednesday afternoon to improve to 43-67 overall and 23-33 on the road. Bo Bichette helped lead the Blue Jays offensively as he ended the game 3-for-5 with a solo home run and a double. Freddy Galvis went 1-for-4 with a solo homer. Cavan Biggio was 1-for-3 with a double, two walks and two runs scored. Jacob Waguespack picked up the win as he allowed one earned run on three hits with two strikeouts and two walks over six innings. Justin Shafer notched his first save of the season as he struck out one in a perfect inning of work. Trent Thornton gets the start tonight as he enters with a 3-7 record, 5.45 ERA and 1.54 WHIP with 100 strikeouts over 99 innings of work.
Orioles rally past Padres
Baltimore trailed 4-0 through three innings before rallying for an eventual 8-5 victory Tuesday afternoon at San Diego. Chris Davis helped pace the Orioles offense as he went 1-for-5 with a solo home run. Trey Mancini was 2-for-4 with a double, a walk, a run scored and two RBIs. Renato Nunez finished 2-for-5 with a run and two RBIs. Miguel Castro picked up the win in relief as he struck out two and walk one in a hitless inning of work. Shawn Armstrong registered the save as he allowed one hit with two strikeouts over two innings. Asher Wojciechowski will start tonight for Baltimore as he comes in with a 2-3 record, 3.60 ERA and 0.93 WHIP with 37 strikeouts over 30 innings pitched.
MLB Betting Trends
Toronto
The Blue Jays are 5-1 in their last six road games. Toronto is 2-6 in the last seven Thornton road starts.
Baltimore
The Orioles are 87-205 in their last 292 games overall. Baltimore is 6-20 in its last 26 Thursday games.
Prediction:
The Orioles might stink, but they had a day off heading into this game and played well on their West Coast trip. Additionally, Wojciechowski has been in dominant form lately and it looks as though he might have figured something out. With Thornton being erratic and allowing a lot of baserunners on the other side, I trust the hosts' starting pitcher a lot more. Toronto had to travel in after playing yesterday afternoon and I wouldn't be surprised at all if it gives a less than inspiring effort.
