D-Backs close series with win
Arizona posted a 5-2 home win Wednesday afternoon at home in its series finale versus Baltimore. Ketel Marte helped pace the offense as he finished 2-for-4 with a home run, a walk and two RBIs. Carson Kelly ended the game 1-for-3 with a homer, a walk and three RBIs. Wilmer Flores went 2-for-4. Taylor Clarke picked up the win as he allowed two earned runs on four hits with seven strikeouts and no walks over six innings. Zack Greinke draws the start tonight for the Diamondbacks as he enters with a 10-4 record, 2.93 ERA and 0.95 WHIP with 123 strikeouts over 135 innings.
Marlins shut down White Sox
Miami picked up a 2-0 victory Wednesday in its series finale at Chicago as it scored twice in the eighth inning to break a scoreless tie. Zac Gallen earned his first MLB victory as he threw seven shutout innings with two hits allowed, nine strikeouts and one walk. Sergio Romo picked up his 17th save as he allowed two hits with one strikeout in a scoreless inning of work. Cesar Puello provided the offense as he went 1-for-2 with a home run and two RBIs. Brian Anderson was 1-for-3 with a walk. Jorge Alfaro finished 1-for-3. MLB Betting Trends
Arizona
The Diamondbacks are 5-1 in their last six series openers started by Greinke. Arizona is 11-2 in its last 13 games following an off day.
Miami
The Marlins are 6-13 in their last 19 games overall. Miami is 5-12 in its last 17 games overall.
Prediction:
Greinke is having a fantastic year and he isn't likely to have a lot of resistance against the Marlins tonight. While Alcantara was an All-Star, that was more out of necessity that the Marlins had to send someone. He's a decent pitcher who will get better over time, but I don't see him matching Greinke tonight. Go with the road favorites.
