Marte leaves game, Pirates streak snapped
Pittsburgh had its 11-game winning streak come to a close Wednesday afternoon with a 4-0 loss at Cleveland. Outfielder Starling Marte left the game with a hand injury after being hit by a pitch in the first inning and is questionable to play today. Adam Frazier replaced Marte and was 1-for-3 with a double. Jordy Mercer and Jacob Stallings both finished 1-for-3 as well. Jameson Taillon took the loss as he allowed two earned runs on seven hits with five strikeouts and one walk over seven innings.
Steven Matz (4-8, 3.65 ERA) will start today for New York, while the Pirates turn to Nick Kingham (5-4, 4.11).
MLB Betting Trends
The Mets are 7-19 in their last 26 Thursday games. New York is 3-7 in its last 10 games at Pittsburgh.
The Pirates are 13-3 in their last 16 games. The under is 7-3 in the last 10 Pirates home games.
The Pirates are feeling as though they are playing for something again after their length winning streak, while the Mets are fairly checked out on this season and benefited only from the Padres being an even worse team the last two days. Kingham has had an up-and-down season since his call-up, but should do well against this Mets lineup. Check on the status of Marte before placing your bet.
