Rockies vs. Diamondbacks Prediction
The Arizona Diamondbacks have fallen out of first place in the NL West this month, but still only sit a half-game back. Will Arizona begin the second half with a victory at home against a division foe in the Colorado Rockies?

Story homers in All-Star Game
Rockies shortstop Trevor Story hit a solo home run in two at-bats Tuesday night as the National League fell 8-6 in 10 innings. Story helped the comeback attempt with his long ball in the eighth inning. He is batting .292 on the season with 20 home runs and 68 RBIs. Teammate Nolan Arenado started the All-Star Game and finished 0-for-2 plus a walk, while Charlie Blackmon came in as a reserve and went 0-for-3.
Goldschmidt hopes to continue tear
After an abysmal start to the season which lasted well into May, D-backs first baseman Paul Goldschmidt has recovered in full and started the All-Star Game at designated hitter for his efforts. He was 0-for-1 plus a walk. He is batting .281 on the season with 21 home runs and 52 RBIs, getting on base at a .386 clip.
German Marquez (8-8, 4.81 ERA) will start tonight for the Rockies, while the Diamondbacks will counter with Robbie Ray (3-2, 5.01).
MLB Betting Trends
Colorado
The Rockies are 3-6 against the D-backs this season. The over is 5-4 in nine meetings this season.
Arizona
The Diamondbacks are 4-1 against Marquez. Arizona is 3-4 against the Rockies when Ray has started.
Prediction:
Arizona has had good success against Colorado this season, particularly at Coors Field. That probably bodes well now that the D-backs are at home against the same opponent. Ray is the stronger pitcher here and his numbers should keep improving as he gets more starts under his belt. While guys like Arenado and Story hit lefties hard, I don't think it will be enough to overcome being away from Coors Field and a better team.
