Oakland A’s Fantasy Spin
Jurickson Profar hit a pair of homers and drove in four runs as the A's crushed the Mariners 10-2 on Wednesday. The whole "turning Profar into a backup" thing seems to have spurred some improvement, as Profar has homered three times in his two starts since the All-Star break. Until things get sorted out, it doesn't seem likely that either Profar or Franklin Barreto will be worth using in mixed leagues.
Minnesota Twins Fantasy Spin
Mitch Garver homered as part of a two-hit performance Wednesday against the Mets. Minnesota was on the receiving end of a 14-4 beat-down on Wednesday but at least Garver came to play, reaching three times in the losing effort. The Twins backstop drew a leadoff walk in the first, took Jason Vargas out of the yard for a solo home run in the fifth, then singled and scored in the eighth. It’s been a superb month for the 28-year-old, who is hitting a robust .370 over 27 July at-bats
MLB Betting Trends
Oakland
The A’s are 5-0 in their last five games following a win.
Minnesota
The Twins are a perfect 8-0 in Kyle Gibson’s last eight starts coming off five days of rest.
Prediction:
The A’s have won seven of their past nine meetings with the Twins and are 4-1 in their last five games played in Minnesota. Oakland has also won 19 of its last 26 games on the road, is 42-10 in its last 52 games versus American League Central opponents and is 6-1 in Mike Fiers’ last seven starts. The Twins, meanwhile, are just 1-4 in Gibson’s last five home starts when facing an opponent with a winning record.
The Pick: Oakland A’s +115
