Yanks sweep London Series
New York won both games of the London Series over Boston including Sunday's 12-8 decision to improve to 54-28 overall and 23-14 on the road. The Yankees trailed 4-2 until a nine-run seventh inning flipped the script. Didi Gregorius helped pace the New York offense as he finished 2-for-5 with a solo home run and two runs scored. D.J. LeMahieu went 3-for-6 with two doubles, two runs and two RBIs. Aaron Hicks was 2-for-5 with a double, a run and two RBIs. Gio Urshela finished 1-for-5 with a run and three RBIs. Adam Ottovino picked up the win in relief as he struck out two in a perfect inning of work. James Paxton draws the start tonight as he enters with a 5-3 record, 4.34 ERA and 1.43 WHIP with 81 strikeouts over 64 1/3 innings.
Mets snap seven-game skid
New York ended a seven-game losing streak Sunday night with an 8-5 home victory over Atlanta. Todd Frazier helped pace the Mets offensively as he finished 3-for-4 with a home run and two RBIs. Jeff McNeil went 3-for-5 with two runs and two RBIs. Pete Alonso was 1-for-4 with a double, a run and two RBIs. Wilmer Font earned the win in relief as he struck out three over two perfect innings of relief. Edwin Diaz notched the save as he struck out two in a spotless ninth inning. Zack Wheeler takes the mound tonight for the Mets as he comes in with a 6-5 record, 4.26 ERA and 1.26 WHIP with 115 strikeouts over 107 2/3 innings.
MLB Betting Trends
New York Yankees
The Yankees are 7-2 in their last nine games following an off day. New York is 46-18 in its last 64 games overall.
New York Mets
The Mets are 4-0 in the last four Wheeler home starts. New York is 1-7 in its last eight games overall.
Prediction:
The Mets already torched Paxton this season in the Bronx and he can't seem to find his footing this season. It's also been an uneven season for Wheeler, but he seems to be finding his way as of late and I like him to get the better of this pitching matchup. Citi Field plays well to pitchers and while the Yankees offense is stacked, it is strikeout prone and Wheeler typically has swing-and-miss stuff. I like the hosts to get the best of the Yankees today.
