Lopez impresses in debut
Pablo Lopez made his MLB debut on Saturday and picked up the win as he gave up two earned runs on six hits with five strikeouts and a walk over six innings in a 5-2 triumph. Derek Dietrich was 1-for-3 and scored two runs to help pace the offense. Brian Anderson went 1-for-4 with a home run, two runs and two RBIs. J.T. Realmuto finished 1-for-4 with a double and two RBIs. Starlin Castro finished 3-for-4. Kyle Barraclough threw a perfect ninth inning with two strikeouts for his eighth save of the season.
Bautista, Frazier homer in loss
The only two runs by the Mets in the defeat came on solo home runs from Jose Bautista and Todd Frazier. It was the only hit in four at-bats for both hitters. Jacob deGrom suffered the loss as he surrendered three earned runs on six hits with eight strikeouts and a walk over six innings.
Steven Matz (3-5, 3.69 ERA) will start today for New York, while Miami turns to Dan Straily (3-3, 4.82).
MLB Betting Trends
New York
The Mets are 15-39 in their last 54 games overall. The under is 6-2 in the last eight New York games on Sunday.
Miami
The over is 17-4-1 in Straily's last 22 home starts. The over is 8-3-2 in the last 13 Marlins games overall.
Prediction:
Matz has been unlucky at times and has pitched fairly well this season. He'll get to face an underwhelming Marlins lineup, while Straily on the other side returns from a minor injury to make this start. With Straily not showing a whole lot in terms of success this season, I'm going to go with the Mets to avoid the sweep.
