Rangers looking for sweep

Texas has won the first two games in this series and is on a four-game win streak overall thanks to a 4-1 win last night in Detroit. Texas is 44-36 on the season, 16-21 on the road and 41-38 with the under. The Rangers have Ariel Jurado on the mound today. He is 4-3 on the season with a 4.44 ERA.

The Rangers used some great pitching on Wednesday to get the win. Mike Minor went the distance, throwing all nine innings while allowing just one run on five hits with seven strikeouts. Minor is now 8-4 on the season. At the plate, Texas had three home runs aid in getting the four runs. Willie Calhoun had one and finished the game with three hits and two runs scored. Elvis Andrus added a pair of hits.

Tigers drop sixth straight

Detroit is now riding a six-game losing streak following Wednesday’s loss. They have scored just seven runs over their last four games combined. The Tigers are 26-49 on the season, 11-26 at home and 38-31 with the under. Detroit has Spencer Turnbull pitching today. He is 3-7 on the season with a 3.29 ERA.

Matthew Boyd pitched seven innings and allowed four runs on 11 strikeouts and five hits, but didn’t get any run support. He falls to 5-6 on the season with the loss. Brandon Dixon drove in the lone Detroit run of the game with his 10th home run of the season. Jeimer Candelario was the lone Tiger with multiple hits in the contest.

MLB Betting Trends

Texas

The Rangers have won 12 of their last 15 games in Detroit and 20 of their last 27 against the Tigers overall.

Detroit

The Tigers are just 11-40 in their last 51 against AL West opponents and 6-22 in their last 28 games following a loss.

Prediction:

Turnbull has actually been one of Detroit’s better players this year, but his efforts haven’t mattered much. Over his last four starts, the Tigers have supplied him with just two runs. Even in good starts, his bullpen hasn’t been reliable to keep him in position to win. Jurado has been in a funk, as his ERA has went from 2.28 to 4.44 over the last month. However, I think he will bounce back today against this poor Detroit lineup. The Tigers just don’t have many MLB-caliber bats and their bullpen is a dumpster fire.

MLB Prediction: Texas Rangers -120
