Orioles fall in 11 innings

Baltimore lost by a count of 4-3 in 11 innings Friday night at Houston to drop to 19-44 overall and 11-21 on the road. Anthony Santander helped lead the offense as he was 2-for-5 with a double and a run. Chance Sisco finished 1-for-5 with a solo home run. Rio Ruiz was 1-for-4 with two RBIs. Branden Kline took the loss as he allowed one earned run on two hits with no strikeouts or walks over two-thirds of an inning. Andrew Cashner will get the start for the O's tonight as he enters with a 6-2 record, 5.04 ERA and 1.43 WHIP with 48 strikeouts over 64 1/3 innings.

Chirinos drives in winning run

Robinson Chirinos drove in the game-winning run in the bottom of the 11th inning with a double Friday night in a 4-3 home victory over Baltimore. It was his only hit in four at-bats. Josh Reddick finished 2-for-5 with a solo home run to help pace the offense. Tony Kemp was 1-for-4 with a home run and two RBIs. Tyler White went 1-for-3 with a run scored. Gerrit Cole received a no-decision as he gave up three runs (one earned) on four hits with 14 strikeouts and no walks over seven innings. Cionel Perez picked up the win in relief as he threw three scoreless and perfect innings with two strikeouts. Framber Valdez will start tonight for the Astros as he comes in with a 2-2 record, 3.12 ERA and 1.35 WHIP with 21 strikeouts over 26 innings.

MLB Betting Trends

Baltimore

The Orioles are 15-43 in their last 58 games overall. Baltimore is 2-5 in the last seven Cashner starts on Saturdays.

Houston

The Astros are 42-16 in their last 58 games overall. Houston is 36-16 in its last 52 Saturday games.

Prediction:

Cashner's 6-2 record with poor outlying numbers on a terrible baseball team says a lot about why win-loss records for a pitcher are useless. Expect that win-loss record to even out over time as he can't get lucky with run support all season with Baltimore not going anywhere fast. Even though Houston isn't going with one of its top pitchers tonight, look for Valdez and the bullpen to get enough run support to take care of business today.
