Red Sox rally falls short

Boston trimmed a four-run deficit through five innings Friday night at Houston to 4-3, but ultimately fell by that score. Christian Vazquez helped pace the offense as he went 1-for-1 with a pinch-hit solo home run. Xander Bogaerts finished 1-for-3 with a solo homer plus a walk. Jackie Bradley Jr. ended the contest 1-for-4 with a solo home run. Chris Sale suffered the loss as he allowed four runs (two earned) on three hits with five strikeouts and two walks over six innings. David Price will start tonight for the Red Sox as he enters with a 2-2 record, 3.29 ERA and 1.07 WHIP with 46 strikeouts over 41 innings.

Marisnick guides Red Sox to win

Houston eked out a 4-3 home win Friday night over Boston to improve to 34-18 overall and 19-6 at home. Jake Marisnick helped lead the way as he went 2-for-4 with a home run and two RBIs, while also making a fantastic catch late in the game to help preserve the victory. Aledmys Diaz finished 1-for-3 with a walk and a run scored. Josh Reddick was 1-for-4 with a run. Wade Miley picked up the win as he gave up one earned run on four hits with eight strikeouts and one walk over six innings. Roberto Osuna secured his 13th save of the season as he gave up one earned run on one hit with two strikeouts and no walks over one inning. Brad Peacock starts tonight for the Astros as he comes in with a 5-2 record, 3.50 ERA and 1.05 WHIP with 50 strikeouts over 47 2/3 innings.

MLB Betting Trends

Boston

The Red Sox are 5-2 in their last seven road games. Boston is 44-21 in the last 65 Price starts.

Houston

The Astros are 3-5 in the last seven meetings. Houston is 1-4 in the last five Peacock starts versus the Red Sox.

Prediction:

This should be a good pitching matchup, but with George Springer back in the lineup it gives Houston another power hitter with which to torture left-handed pitching. Price usually navigates well around tough lineups, but he might not get a ton of run support with Peacock pitching well lately. The Astros are tough to beat at home and I like their chances to win another against Boston.
