Cincinnati Reds Fantasy Spin
Yasiel Puig went 2-for-4 with a two-run homer on Monday in the Reds' loss to the Dodgers on Monday. Puig got the Reds off to an excellent start, crushing a two-run shot off of Clayton Kershaw to score Eugenio Suarez to give Cincinnati a 2-0 lead in the first. It's the second homer of the season for Puig, and he has now driven in eight runs in his time with the Reds. The .191 average is problematic, but the sample size is too small to be too concerned. Puig has now homered in back-to-back games, and should be a strong fantasy option in 2019.
Los Angeles Dodgers Fantasy Spin
Joc Pederson hit a two-run, walk-off homer in the ninth inning to give the Dodgers a 4-3 victory over the Reds on Monday. After David Freese drew a leadoff walk against Raisel Iglesias and was pinch-run for by Chris Taylor, Pederson took Iglesias deep to give the Dodgers the win and himself the seventh homer of his 2019 season. The outfielder also had a single and a walk and was able to score a second run. While he's hitting "just" .255, Pederson has a .382 on-base percentage and .691 slugging percentage. It's fair to call this an excellent start to the 2019 campaign for the 26-year-old.
MLB Betting Trends
Cincinnati
The Reds are 6-2 in their last eight games versus the Dodgers.
Los Angeles
The Dodgers are just 1-4 in their last five home games versus the Reds.
Prediction:
I’m not going to overthink this matchup. Cincinnati starter Tyler Mahle has struggled against lefties over his career and the Dodgers’ lineup is loaded with left-handed power. From Joc Pederson to Corey Seager to Max Muncy, L.A. has no shortage of right-handed hitters that feast on left-handed pitching. We all saw in the first week what this Dodgers lineup can do. Yes, it has cooled off but I still see them scoring at least five runs tonight given the matchup.
The Pick: Los Angeles Dodgers Team Total Over 5 Runs (-110)
