The Lay of the Line NFL Week 14
By Mr. East

It is on to NFL week 14. I will present my weekly column entitled "The Lay of the Line" Here is how the history books have marked week 14 in the NFL:

The overall picture is as expected. Home teams have gone 154-151 ATS and home dogs for week 14 have gone 132-140 ATS. The totals picture shows about the same as the under is 153-147. That certainly doesn't mean week 14 is void of some stocking stuffing numbers, so let's take a look at where the money has been able to fatten up those accounts in the spirit of the season.

Home teams playing to extremely low totals of 34 or less are 10-5 ATS. The bonanza for home teams has been when the total is set from 42.5-44.5 where the home team has been a highly profitable 38-17 ATS. The death nell has been served on "over" players when the total reaches 45. These anticipated high scoring affairs have fallen through the chimney, and turn the gold into charcoal. Totals of 45 and higher are 38-17 to the under. Want to play the mysterious home dogs? better watch out, better not tout, I'm telling you why, home dogs from 2-8 will keep you from a night on the town, as they are 84-109 ATS.

The light at the end of the tunnel appears when these home dogs are guided over the 8 point mark, as home dogs from 8.5-10.5 have filled the stockings with great joy. They are 26-14 ATS. Do not fall prey to the massive home dog, as if you get behind the sleigh, and want them to pull your money into a bigger pile, you will have squandered it all, as home dogs from 10.5 and up are just 4-10 ATS. Then there is the little skinny home dog, the wall flower, that no one embraces or wants to dance with. These home dogs become prom queens when fetching 2 points or less, as they have worn the gown at 18-7 ATS.
