NCAA-B | VCU vs Rhode Island
Play on: VCU PK -108 at pinnacle

VCU a team that has won 6 of their L/7 overall has some serious payback on their agenda tonight for being knocked out in the first round of last year’s A10 tourney by their hosts tonight Rhode Island. Im betting VCU have the edge here behind a top tier D that has held nine opponents to 60 points or less this season.VCU ranks fourth nationally in defensive effective field goal percentage (.422) . Meanwhile, Rhode Island is a hoops programming that is retooling and that has only one starter returning from last season and a new in HC David Cox. Advantage VCU.

NCAA-B | Valparaiso vs Indiana State
Play on: OVER 134½ -109

Valpo is 12-7 on the season. They are shooting 47% from the field and have won six of their last seven despite the fact that Ryan Fazekas has not played the past few games. They are really efficient on offense and leaky at times on defense. The Crusaders gave up 71 at Loyola, 66 at Missouri State, 71 at Texas A&M and 79 at GW. Without Fazekas, Derrik Smits takes over as the toughest option with Markus Golder and Javon Freeman also in the mix. Indiana State has lost five of their last seven with three of those going over the total. The Sycamores offense is very inconsistent while their defense has been very leaky. This is a little bit of a lower total because of that I think. The Sycamores big three is Jordan Barnes, Tyreke Key and Christian Williams. ISU has gone over in 19 of their last 27 games as a favorite and 27 of their last 44 in MVC play. I think this trend continues on Wednesday.

LASALLE/FORDHAM UNDER the total

9-9 Fordham is at home looking to take down 3-14 LaSalle in their series inside the A-10. The series has gone UNDER 6 straight, and 14-of-17 low. LaSalle brings a majestic 4-0 UNDER mark off a DD loss and 5-1 UNDER L6 in conference action. The Rams have been super against

NCAA-B | Tennessee vs Vanderbilt
Play on: Vanderbilt +11 -110 at sportsbook

1* Free NCAAB Pick on Vanderbilt Commodores +11

I really like the value here with Vanderbilt as a double-digit dog at home against in-state rival Tennessee. The Commodores were going to show up for this game no matter what, but the fact that Tennessee was just named the No. 1 team in the country, will have Vandy itching to pull off the upset. The Commodores are also going to be desperate to get a win, as they have started out 0-5 in SEC play.

On the flip side of this, it would be really easy for Tennessee to not take this game all that seriously, simply given the gap in talent. They also have won 12 straight and it's only a matter of time before they get complacent. We saw signs of that in their last game, as they blew a big lead and had to hang on for a 3-point win as a 13-point favorite.

I'm not saying the Vols are going to lose the game, I just think the more motivated Vandy team can hang around enough at home to cash in a cover.

Adding to this is a great system in play favoring the Commodores. Underdogs of 10 or more who are a good offensive team, 74-78 ppg, and facing a good defensive team, 63-67 ppg at least 15 games into the season are 39-14 (74%) ATS going back to 1997.

On top of that, we see that road favorites of 10 or more who are coming off a win by 6 points or less are a just 26-59 (30.6%) ATS the last 5 seasons. Take Vanderbilt.

My 1* Free Play is on Vanderbilt (7:00 EST).

Will the No. 1, 16-1 Tennessee Vols have a colossal letdown on the road vs. the 9-8 Vanderbilt Commodores on Wednesday night?!

Probably not. But after 12 straight wins, including over Alabama this past weekend, I think the Vols do indeed come out a bit complacent here.

The Commodores on the other hand won’t be taking anything for granted after five straight losses.

There’s no question in my mind which of these two teams is the “hungrier” one tonight.

The Vols are playing their first game as the No. 1, but they almost didn’t even make it by Alabama (71-68) at home last time out.

Vandy also plays with “double revenge” tonight after the Vols took both meetings last year (that included a 92-84 win at Vanderbilt.)

Funny to note as well that the only other time Tennessee has reached No. 1 (2007-08 season), it lost the next night to Vanderbilt. Lo and behold, the Vols' opponent tonight is Vandy. Deja vu?

Maybe not but take the points!

Good luck…Larry

NBA | Hawks vs Bulls
Play on: Hawks +2 -109 at GTBets

We have a first today in the NBA. The Bulls are chalk for a second straight game. That hasn't happened all season. Chicago ended a 10-game losing streak by defeating the Cavaliers, 104-88, on the road this past Monday. Now the Bulls come home to face the Hawks. Chicago has won consecutive games only once all season. Atlanta is the better team with the superior record. The Hawks are a respectable 8-9 in their last 17 games. They have revenge for an early-season loss to the Bulls. The Hawks have a winning road point spread mark. The Bulls have a losing home point spread record. Atlanta's next five games are on the West Coast. The Hawks don't play again until Saturday so a maximum effort should be forthcoming especially following a dismal 122-103 blowout home loss to the Magic two days ago. Atlanta is 6-2 ATS after a defeat. Sparked by second-year breakout star John Collins, the Haws lead the NBA in offensive rebounding while ranking No. 2 in rebounds per game. Collins can really hurt the Bulls, who are missing their toughest inside presence with center Wendell Carter Jr. out with a thumb injury. Collins, Trae Young and Kevin Huerter, a playmaking wing with an excellent 3-point shooting touch, give the Hawks an excellent and underrated young core. Huerter is expected to play after missing the Magic game due to a sore neck. The Hawks also have Taurean Prince back from injury. He's Atlanta's fourth-leading scorer.

Tommy Brunson

Free play winner for Wednesday will be to play against the suddenly arctic cold Ohio State Buckeyes as they play at home against the bubbling Boilermakers.

Matt Painter's team has found their rhythm in Big Ten play, as they head to Columbus having won and covered 3 straight in conference action, and they are also on a 6-1 straight up run overall their last 7 games. The Boilermakers last pair of conference wins have come at home, and they have both come by double-digits. Now they will head out on the road where they were able to also win their last conference clash, 84-80 in overtime at Wisconsin.

Good scheduling spot for Purdue, as Chris Holtman's Buckeyes have turned ice cold with losses in each of their last 4 games - all in Big Ten play! - and 2 of the 4 losses coming on their home court.

Ohio State is just 3-8 against the spread this season in their lined home games, and the real issue of late is the fact the Buckeyes offense has not been able to score more than 62 points in any of their last 3 setbacks. They better find some offense in a hurry, because Carsen Edwards on the other side of the court is capable of going off for about 30 on any given night, as evidenced by his 24.6 points per game average.

The last pair of games played between the teams have both been decided by a single-point, the road team taking both, so I am sure we may see this one played close to the vest, but in the end, I cannot move past the fact OSU just looks stagnant right now.

I will lay the small road wood with Purdue here on Wednesday.

4* PURDUE

Wednesday night free play is Fordham as the home favorite over La Salle.

It has been a real struggle for first year coach Ash Howard as he has tried mostly in vain to get his Explorers to play 40 minutes of basketball.

La Salle usually hangs in there for the first half, but then things turn south in the second 20 minutes, so don't fret if the Explorers actually hold the lead in this game at the break, the fact of the matter is they have lost 4 straight in A-10 play, and have failed in each of their last 3 losses against the spread.

For the year, La Salle owns just 3 wins against 14 losses, and they are now on a money-burning 8-21 spread plummet in Atlantic 10 action.

True, the Rams are riding a season losing streak of 6 in a row, and they are on a series losing streak of 4 in a row to the Explorers, but the linesmakers know what they are doing installing Fordham as the home favorite here, as the Rams have won 8 of their 12 home games this year, and they have won and covered 4 of their last 5 when playing teams with a losing record.

The difference tonight will be the effort on the defensive end of the floor, as La Salle comes into this one having allowed close to 76 points per game, while Fordham's defense ranks 31st in the nation with a 64.6 points per game average.

One of these bottom-feeders in the A-10 is going to get a win, and my money is on Fordham to be the one that stops the bleeding first.

Play the Rams.

3* FORDHAM
