Bengals respond to Henry allegations
May 21st, 2007

Cincinnati, OH (Sports Network) - The Cincinnati Bengals responded to allegations that wide receiver Chris Henry failed a drug test and faced significant jail time on Monday.

The Cincinnati Enquirer and a number of other media outlets reported that Kenton County, Kentucky prosecutor Ken Easterling said initial test results indicated that Henry did indeed fail a drug test.

Easterling stressed that Kenton County is still awaiting final analysis from the Kentucky state lab, however.

"For Chris Henry to return playing NFL football, the Bengals understand that he must comply with certain legal and NFL-related procedures," a team release stated. "To date, to the Club's knowledge, Chris has been complying with those procedures, and the Club is not aware at this point of any circumstance in which Chris has not complied with his obligations.

"With respect to the Northern Kentucky proceedings, reports to date may not be based on complete information. More information is expected to be made available shortly, once all the procedural tests are complete, and the Club will await any action until that information has been released."

Marvin Frazier, Henry's agent, denied the reports after talking with Bengals player relations director Eric Ball. According to Frazier, Ball said Henry did not fail the test.

Henry has already been served by NFL commissioner Roger Goodell with an eight- game suspension in 2007 for a series of off-field incidents.

Bengals release Nicholson
May 21st, 2007

Cincinnati, OH (Sports Network) - The Cincinnati Bengals released second-year linebacker A.J. Nicholson on Monday, another sign that the club is intent on rehabilitating its image.

Nicholson was one of the nine Bengals arrested over a nine-month span in 2006, and ran into trouble again last week when he was arrested on a domestic violence charge.

A fifth-round pick out of Florida State, Nicholson appeared in just two games during his rookie campaign last season.

😀
